Academic Scholarship Grade 8 2026 – NOW OPEN

Must have an average of 80% and above across all subjects at the end of Grade 6.
Scholarship Exams will be held on the 8th March 2025, 9am – 11am, @Summerhill International College – Hall.

How to apply for a scholarship

Students who qualify for a scholarship as listed in the scholarship policy below must fill in the normal online application form and indicate intent to apply for a scholarship when prompted by the form. Once you have chosen which type of scholarship you would like to apply for, a CV and any other supporting documentation will have to be uploaded and sent via the form.

SCHOLARSHIP POLICY

Scholarships only available for Gr8 – Gr10

Summerhill College offers Academic, Sport and Cultural Scholarships based on a set of pre-determined criteria.

NB! All Scholarships are subjected to an exam, interview of the candidate and the approval of the College Principal, Head of Departments and School Board.

These Scholarships are only awarded for the following:

Academic

Academic bursaries are awarded to students who achieve an 80% aggregate in their previous grade. Students may be are awarded up to 50% scholarship – subject to processing and final approval.

This scholarship is renewed annually provided that the student conducts himself/herself in accordance with the Discipline Code of the school, maintains an 80% aggregate and remains a good ambassador for Summerhill School.

Sporting/Cultural

This requires candidates who represent a sport or cultural code at Zone level, District or Provincial level for example: Prestige (Swimming) and Platinum holders for Eisteddfod or 90% Achievement for Model UN – Provincial or 1st Team level. The sport and/or cultural activity of choice should fall within Summerhill College’s offering. The student is eligible for up to 50% scholarship.

This scholarship is renewed annually provided that the student conducts himself/herself in accordance with the Discipline Code of the school, maintains their level of involvement in Sport or Cultural continues to represent the College and remains a good ambassador for Summerhill School.

NB! Please note

The parent responsible for the fees must be willing to be credit checked for credit worthiness and must be able to afford the reduced monthly fees.

The student must be of good standing in either Academics, Sport or Cultural

All scholarships will be subjected to Summerhill’s processes as outlined in this policy.

The parent will still be liable for the incidentals that must be paid. E.g. Textbooks, Uniforms, Camp Fees, Exam Fees etc.

NO letters of recommendation from the Head of the School, Grade teacher or Sports Manager are required at on application, Summerhill will make the necessary enquiries with the relevant departments.

The parent will be liable to pay the Non-Refundable Development levy

In line with the POPI ACT, Summerhill College reserves the right to request an Ethics report / Character reference from the student’s previous school
