Parents Teacher Association

Summerhill Parents Teachers Association (PTA) is set up by parents who wish to give the children equipment and facilities over and above what the school is able to provide. Over the years this has included sports equipment, library books, CD players, fans and heaters, educational games, cricket nets, grassing of the netball courts and contributions towards classrooms.

The PTA has three traditional fundraisers – the Bunny raffle in the 1st Term, the Fun Day in the 2nd Term and the Fun Run / Bug Run in the 3rd Term. The teachers, admin staff and PTA members put a huge amount of planning and work into these fundraisers but are amply repaid by the children’s enthusiasm and the significant amounts that are raised.

The Fun Day, which has a different theme every year, is one of the happiest events on the Summerhill calendar and underscores the strong sense of community and family in the school. It is hugely rewarding to see our pupils and their families enjoying themselves in the winter sun on Fun Day. The PTA is made up of an Executive committee, teachers and parents. We are also fortunate to have the dedicated support of our Founder, Sonja Morshead, Preparatory Principal, Jessica Fritz and Nursery Principal Sonja Toet.

The committee: PTA Chairlady – Zoë Kinver-Eastman, Vice-Chairperson – Foula Nelson, Treasurer – Christine Gracie, Secretary – Tania Scott. You are welcome to contact any of us with questions or suggestions. Although the PTA has no direct involvement in the planning for the school, we contribute to projects.

At the Annual AGM, the PTA elects a new Committee and celebrates the hard work and achievements of the year.

Anyone is welcome to join us and we look forward to welcoming new members. Being a PTA Member means contributing your time and energy, but above all, it involves having FUN – and making your children proud of their Mom’s or Dad’s involvement in their school!Summerhill Parents Teachers Association (PTA) is set up by parents who wish to give the children equipment and facilities over and above what the school is able to provide.
