Congratulations to our Grade 0 Class of 2025!
We are thrilled to announce that our Grade 0 students have achieved outstanding results in this year’s Optima School Readiness Testing, with a combined aggregate score of 79%.
The Optima Assessment, developed by Dr. Susan Le Roux from the University of
Pretoria, evaluates six key developmental milestones:
– Visual Skills – Auditory Skills – Spatial and Number Skills – Social and Emotional Skills
– Fine and Gross Motor Skills
In addition to the Optima Test, we also administer our own Summerhill Test, focusing on Phonetic and Mathematical awareness. This fun and engaging assessment helps identify areas where our students may need extra support, ensuring they’re fully prepared for Grade One.
We are incredibly proud of our students, who demonstrated their readiness for these tests without needing to “study”. Most notably too, we are thrilled to see that many of our top scorers have been part of the Summerhill Nursery School family since Grade 00 and even longer. This achievement is a testament to our dedicated Early Childhood Development (ECD) team, who have nurtured these children’s holistic development from as young as 12 months old.
Their tireless efforts have expertly prepared our
students for this significant milestone, and we are grateful for their commitment to excellence in early childhood education.
As the first official test of “Big School,” we’re delighted to see our students excel and enjoy the experience. Well done, Grade 0!
