OISESA (the Online Independent Education Standards Authority) is a nationally recognised quality assurance body that evaluates independent schools against clear standards of governance, teaching and learning, learner support, and operational sustainability. Accreditation confirms that a school meets these benchmarks and is committed to reflective practice and ongoing development.
This was Summerhill’s first OISESA Quality Assurance visit across all three schools. There was no prior evaluation or previous result, which makes passing on the first assessment especially meaningful. OISESA, in its current form, began operating in 2022, with 2022–2023 serving as pilot and phased rollout years. Schools were scheduled over time by ISASA as part of a standard six-year quality assurance cycle. Summerhill’s evaluation therefore took place at the appropriate and intended time, once the programme was fully established.
For the Summerhill community, this accreditation serves as an external affirmation that the practices, leadership, and educational programmes across Nursery, Preparatory, and College align with nationally recognised standards. It reinforces the school’s commitment to transparency, professional accountability, and thoughtful growth. It also provides parents with confidence, supports staff in their professional work, and strengthens the school’s long-term sustainability.
Passing the OISESA evaluation on the first visit is a positive endorsement of the foundations already in place across all three schools — and a solid platform for continued growth in the years ahead.
