The World Mathletics Maths Day was celebrated on Wednesday 23 March 2022. True to Summerhill spirit, we went big and celebrated it along with our termly Digi-Day, as well as our annual Maths Focus week.
The week was a great success! From interactive morning maths games, amazing and original dress up ideas, to high-scoring Live Mathletics games, and engaging digital lessons.
An astounding 9007 schools from 130 countries took part in the World Mathletics Day, which added up to 308 138 students who played 2 590 505 maths games on the day! It was truly a global celebration of Maths and learning!
Our students made us proud, and placed pleasingly in the country as well as in the world. The top student per Grade in the competition were as follows:
Grade 4: Pranav Kotra – 54th in South Africa, and 1 552nd in the world
Grade 5: Andile Nyathi – 22nd in South Africa, and 861st in the world
Grade 6: Meghan Bugan-Rensburg – 24th in South Africa, and 791st in the world
Grade 7: Danica Govender – 12th in South Africa, and 156th in the world
Well done to all those who took part and to our wonderful parents for their support!
