The Grade 0 learners at Summerhill Nursery School had a wonderful time as they “travelled through outer space” in this year’s Mini Science Fair. There were endless group discussions, exciting books to read and fascinating space videos that were watched to immerse them in this fascinating topic. Upon their return to the classroom the children went to work and began
to plan for their Science project using the knowledge they had acquired as well as our affiliation with the Sky-Day Friday International Project.

The Aim: What is in outer space? The group effort between child, parent and educator was
seen when all posters and projects went on display on Friday 9th April 2021. Using recycled
materials to make their project, the children showed that you can find a solar system, aliens,
the sun, volcanoes on Mars, the moon, as well as our own planet earth in outer space. The
display was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children…who knows, we might just have a future
South African Astronaut amongst us.
Well done boys and girls, you did a great job and we are extremely proud of you.
